My due date, March 27th, was a long time coming. It finally came... and went... and I was still prego. We had an ultrasound to check on the babe and make sure there was nothing dangerous goin on and I let the nurse know I really wanted to be induced as soon as possible. My doctor called me on Saturday to let me know he could get me in Sunday to get the induction started. I was beyond excited. Chris and I went through my bag to make sure I had everything I could ever possibly need :) and went to the store to get a few more snacks. Sunday, April 1st, we headed into the hospital at 3pm. Around 4pm I was started on cervidil, which helped to soften my cervix. I had to have the cervidil for 12 full hours so I was still allowed to eat and walk. Chris tried to entertain me a little, then he got tired so I asked for some medicine to help me sleep. I was given ambien and apparently it just made me a little cooky :) I've had to ask Chris if certain things happened or not and he's had to fill me in on a few things I didn't remember. From what I know I took a bath, then was put on pitocin and a few other drugs. Around 11am on April 2nd I started feeling the contractions pretty hard so I got my epidural. I took a little nap and when I woke up the doctor checked me, I was dilated to about a 3... then he came back and said he thought I was around a 4 but really I was about a 9. He started suiting up, the nurses fixed my bed for delivery, and next thing I know I'm pushing. It took about 2 contractions to get our little guy out. Once his shoulders were out I was able to reach down and pull him up onto my belly. At 1:41pm on April 2nd, 2012 our sweet Everett Lee Baker was born. It was so surreal and one of the most insane experiences ever. We were so lucky that everything went so smoothly and we feel so blessed to have this little guy in our lives. He is now almost 3 weeks old and he is so calm. He is very snuggly, he is a great eater, and he is already lighting up our days :)
